This piece features an opal planet centerd in a UV reacive galaxy of swirling geens and whites. around the middle is a band of swirly purples and the back has a lime green section with a small planet floating in it. The lense aboce the opal has been carved with a fleet of UFOs and the back gas been carved with various other space images.


These sandcarved pieces are made utilizing an extremely time consuming multi-step process. I first create the piece on the torch and anneal it in a digitally controlled kiln. I then clean the piece with acetone, lay out a series of images on a layout program, cut those images on a vinyl plotter, apply them to the the piece, sandblast the piece, soak them in acetone to remove the decals, clean them, and oil them.
