This piece features a lense of spun dichro that has been sandcarved with a honeycomb. The back is a section of white with a coat of red frit and a raked peremiter.
These sandcarved pieces are made utilizing an extremely time consuming multi-step process. I first create the piece on the torch and anneal it in a digitally controlled kiln. I then clean the piece with acetone, lay out a series of images on a layout program, cut those images on a vinyl plotter, apply them to the the piece, sandblast the piece, soak them in acetone to remove the decals, clean them, and oil them.
